Climate and Agriculture
01
Agriculture
Agriculture was established around the world when CO2 concentrations stabilised at 280ppm 12,000 years ago. It stayed stable until then, allowing agriculture to flourish around the planet. That is until 200 years ago.

02
Food Production Down
Now, CO2 are 420ppm and growing. Crops that for thousands of years were adapted to stable CO2 levels are failing. Food production is being hit in Ireland and in the US.
03
Sequester
In order to stabilise the climate and allow farmers to grow food for generations to come, not only do we need to stop emitting CO2 - we need to sequester CO2 we have already emitted, and
bring the planet to 350ppm or below.

Companies can help
Businesses focus on reducing their carbon emissions - but they can help to drawdown carbon from the atmosphere too.

Carbon is not our enemy - it has many uses in business when in the right form.

05
Carbon is an opportunity
When organic matter is burned in the absence of oxygen, it produces biochar which is a very porous and solid form of carbon. This carbon, because of its porosity, has many applications such as a soil enhancement, water purifying, insulation, tiling and as construction material. By treating carbon - the element of Life - not as the enemy but as an opportunity, we have one of the best methods of drawing down CO2 from the atmosphere and putting it to use.
